EDUCATION: CONFLICT RESOLUTION OF EDUCATION LEVELS OF POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS IN NIGERIA:
There have been problems in the implementation of policies by the education statutory bodies such as Universal Basic Education Commission and National University Commission for award of certificates to politicians that have contributed to their corrupt practice and failure as a result of administratively decentralized system of Nigeria government .
The educational needs of an emergent Nigeria are well articulated by Pai Obanya,he "suggests that Nigerian education should be marked by a continuous search for excellency supported by political will for good governance and transparency".To me there is nothing honorable than advancement and international quality of our education system.
The political pressure on politicians to satisfy the academic requirements as prerequisite for vying for any political office in the country should be taking seriously by the National Assembly and DSS to serve as deterrent for shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
Other problems that led to conflict of jurisdiction by Nigeria political office holders are a result of a complex combination of need for greater access to quality education. For example, merit as admission criterion has been lower to 40 percent of the new intakes into federal higher institutions and 12 percent into federal secondary schools.
Admission malpractice includes bribery, corruption and nepotism in favor of less qualified candidates vis-a-vis electoral and appointment system into political office. This has led to growing mediocrity as politics began to play more role than concerns in our society.
