Group Marks International Day of Families.

Every 15th of May is the International Day of Families. This is a day scheduled and set aside by these United Nations to reflect on the importance the international community attaches to families and their role in development.  The recent commemoration of the day focused specially on the role of the families for the achievements of SDGs 1-5 and SDG 16.

While this year celebration focuses on other different themes ranging from but not limited to the place of families taking action to combat climate change, to sustainable family farming to combat climate change, to integrational strategies for preserving and appreciating the natural environment work and so on, but in her efforts to reach people at the grassroots with the news and love of International Day of Families, His Marvellous Grace Support Foundation, a community based NGO, in Ikorodu thematized today's celebration on "the need for a community dialogue on how to reduce teenage pregnancy among children", a timely call in place to address the surging increase in rampant cases of pregnancies among teens in Ikorodu and its environs.

His Marvellous Grace Support Foundation joined the world to celebrate International Day of Families in collaboration with Changed Nigeria News, DIvine Women Of Purpose Association, Vision Spring Initiatives, Triumph Elderly Care Services and Nursing Home, Clean Teens and Youth Initiative, Kid & Teens NGO, The Citizen Mediation Centre, Justice Makers Initiative, Community Savage For People’s Health and Empowerment Initiative and Community Women's Rights Foundation in Igbo Agbowa Community, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The programme started with a brief introduction from the Executive Director, His Marvellous Grace Support Foundation Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwadamisi Tayo-Ladega on the need to curb teenage pregnancy, Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu-Juba of Vision Spring Initiative gave a talk to all present on the need for mother to get closer to their daughters, she also narrated an incidence of a 7 years old girl that was sexually abused by a 22 years old young man, raising the need for proper care of our girl children.

Dr Mrs Julia-jane Chikezie,,from Divine Women Of Purpose Association spoke to all present to take Child abuse cases seriously, the need to report early and not to keep quiet about them.

The programme continued with medical tests on blood pressure  and HIV/AIDS, carried out by Triumph Elderly Care Services and Nursing Home and Community Savage For People’s Health and Empowerment Initiative.
Over 40 community men and women with heavy distribution of drugs to all attendees also by Divine Women Of Purpose Association.
