Atiku
Support Group (ASG) views with great displeasure the recent comment accredited
to President Muhammadu Buhari, that Nigerian youths are lazy and like free
things. This statement was released after an emergency National Executive Council meeting of Atiku Support Group in Abuja.
We frown at
such statement coming from no other person than the President of the federal
republic of Nigeria. It finally corroborates the President’s wife earlier
comment about the president turning his back on Nigerians especially the
youths.
We will like
to remind the president that it’s the same youths that campaigned tirelessly
for him first, second and third time until he finally won the 2015 general
election, for him to turn round and call them lazy shows a high degree of
ingratitude and Nigerians will not accept this. It’s surprising that the
president can turn round and betray the same demographic group that formed a
major voting block in the 2015 general election, this is even regardless of the fact that the
youths have been denied the demographic dividend accruable to them.
It’s also on
record that the same youths you accused of always looking out for free things
gave freely to support you during the 2015 election, 90% of youth worked and
campaigned with their hard earned resources after which many
have been left in the cold. This further reaffirms the first lady’s earlier call
for you to show appreciation to Nigerians that worked to bring you to power.
Let it be on record that you will soon come
begging the same ‘Lazy’ Nigerian youths to campaign and vote for you, the same
so called youths will be called to work
for free again, then they will remind you of this comment of betrayal of yours.
We shall not
stand by and watch the integrity and honour of Nigerians taken to the cleaners
in front of international audience and local press. Atiku Support Group (ASG)
will ensure Nigeria youth gets their due come 2019, enough is enough.
We therefore
call on Nigerians especially the youths to get ready with their PVC and vote
