– Cesc Fabregas could leave Chelsea to join AC Milan in the January transfer window – The Italians see the midfielder as a replacement for the injured Ricardo Montolivio Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has held talks with AC Milan ahead of a potential January transfer, Tuttosport reports. The Spain international is yet to be in Antonio Conte’s preferred starting side with Nemanja Matic and new signing N’Golo Kante ahead of him in the pecking order.

AC Milan who will be taken over by Chinese investors in the coming days are hoping to sign the 29-year-old as a potential replacement for Riccardo Montolivo, who suffered a serious knee injury.

It was gathered that CEO Marco Fassone and director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli travelled to London to discuss Fabregas’ future but AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella has cooled interest in the Chelsea midfielder. He said: “We’re looking for a player who has the characteristics that Montolivo has, who can also operate in a defensive-midfield two. “Fabregas? He doesn’t have those characteristics.”
