Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has given insight into the latest state of injuries of Nigerian players ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

So far, Rohr ruled out captain John Obi Mikel and defender Shehu Abdullahi, but confirmed that Jamiu Collins is ready to play.

“Collins is fit, I can’t say if he will start but he can play."

“Mikel is injured and will miss the game, while Shehu is still recovering and won’t play,” he told a press conference on Friday.

The injuries, especially to Mikel Obi, might see Rohr rejig his starting line up. But the German is fully aware that the Indomitable Lions squad are also a formidable team.

“Cameroon have the strength of being able to play in different systems, but we have to play our game and to our strengths,” Rohr added.
