Lagos - Contrary to claims that it has no plan to increase the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Tuesday on Tuesday hiked the pump price of the product.
All NNPC controlled retail outlets now sells at N145 naira per liter as against previous N141, reports NewsDay
NNPC had severally in the last two weeks denied that there would be no fuel increase.
it is not clear yet whether other petroleum marketers would also hike the price of the product.
Many of the oil marketers have complained that the N145 per litre was no longer feasible with the current price of foreign exchange.
